What is fees of BFA ?
The BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) at Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan (Kala Bhavana).

Total tuition fees for the 4-year BFA program are around ₹3,360–3,36K.
One-time fees (admission, registration, library, caution money) add about ₹4,000 (some refundable).
Other fees (amenities, medical, etc.) contribute roughly ₹4.82K, making the grand total approximately ₹12.18K for the course.

First-year fees for general/OBC/EWS are about ₹6,030 under Arts/Fine Arts, dropping to ₹5,190 for SC/ST/PWD (tuition ₹840/year).

Subsequent years are lower without admission fees; exam fees (₹500) are paid separately.
Hostel fees apply extra if allotted (₹350–600/month, waived for some reserved categories).

These figures are estimates from recent sources and may vary; always verify directly with the university via vbadmission.in or official prospectus for the latest 2026 details, as fees are subject to change and require due diligence.
Is it necessary to get special permission or book reservation for visiting Shantiniketan University for Arts ans Science ?
No, special permission or reservations are generally not required for casual visits to Visva-Bharati University (Santiniketan) campus, including Arts (Kala Bhavana) and Science areas, but restrictions apply to core zones and timings.
The main campus is open to visitors during daylight hours or specified slots like winter (2-4:30 PM) and summer (2:30-5:30 PM), with no entry fee for most areas.
Entry to academic zones like Kala Bhavana studios or during class hours (e.g., 9 AM-7 PM in some cases) may need prior permission to avoid disruption.

Is there any festivities at Santiniketan during Jan 14th or 15th?
We are basically interested in Tagore & his philosophy & creativity.
We are trying to plan a group visit, so information would really be helpful
No major festivals exactly then—Poush Mela is late Dec, Basanta in March.
But perfect for Tagore lovers: Visit Uttarayan (his homes), Kala Bhavana for art/creativity, Rabindra Bhavan museum on his philosophy.
Campus walks highlight his universalist vision—quiet, inspiring vibe post-Poush crowds. Great for groups! Check visvabharati.ac.in for events; facts subject to updates.
Can you tell me where to contact for booking stall
9820293151 – I want to buy all types of non leather and rexine ladies hand bags , ladies non leather tote bag , polyester backpack bags for export , Wholesale supply , Promotional Corporate Event gifting , Export and International Online sale … call me ..
Can you
1)enter & see & read about Santiniketan , history, philosophy, past activity, current activity, etc or is it just walking around the buildings ?
2) If entry is possible what are the timings? Is it ticketed?
3)Are there daily activities that one can join or see? E.g. Rabindra-sangeet, Art of poetry? Tagores approach to dance?
It’s way more than just wandering around pretty buildings—it’s like stepping into Tagore’s living dream of open-air learning and cultural fusion.
You can totally enter the campus, explore museums like Rabindra Bhavana (Tagore’s life artifacts), Uttarayan houses, Kala Bhavana art galleries, and spots like Chhatimtala or Upasana Griha. History-wise, Rabindranath started it in 1901 as an experimental school rejecting rote learning—philosophy was harmony with nature, blending Eastern/Western arts, music, and rural uplift (Sriniketan for villages). Past vibes: Brahmo Samaj roots from his dad Devendranath in 1860s. Now, it’s a UNESCO site buzzing with classes under trees, festivals like Poush Mela, and global exchanges.
Campus is open daily 9 AM-5 PM (some say 10:30-4:30), closed Wed/Thu for Rabindra Bhavana museum (₹40 Indians, ₹200 foreigners). Heritage walks (Sundays: 10:30 AM, 11:30, 2:30, 3:30 PM) from Rabindra Bhavana—₹300 general, ₹1000 foreigners, students cheaper; buy tickets there. No fee for basic campus stroll, but museums/tours are ticketed. Photography often restricted inside.
Oh yeah, it’s alive! Catch morning prayer classes at Chhatimtala (open to public), student Rabindra Sangeet recitals at Sangeet Bhavana (workshops/concerts often public). Kala Bhavana has art demos; dance like Tagore’s style (Rabindra Nritya) pops up in festivals or Gour Prangan events. Check calendars for poetry readings, Varshamangal (monsoon fest), or Bengali New Year shows—many free/public. Ask locals/guides for schedules; Sundays best for guided stuff.
Go early, wear comfy shoes, and chat with students—they’ll share the real magic. It’s immersive, not touristy!

I would like to visit Shantiniketan during Durga Puja. Please let me know when it will be open or when it will be closed.
Shantiniketan, especially Visva-Bharati University and its key sites like Uttarayan, museums, and Uttarayan Complex, will mostly be closed during Durga Puja due to the university’s Saradabakasha (Puja vacation). This vacation runs from October 17 to 26, 2026, for non-academic staff, and longer (October 17 to November 13) for Patha-Bhavana and Shiksha-Satra, covering the main Puja days around October 17-21.

Would like to add our newly built Homestay
I visited this place a week ago. They have good collection of handicrafts but price is quite high. The worst thing is the extremely rude behaviour of the staffs especially the person in the billing counter. Let me brief an incident, there were some reused cold drinks bottles kept for the customer to have water. My wife asked if she can drink water, the person in the billing counter replied really rudely that you can only drink water and cannot take the bottle home. Why on earth did he think that my wife will take the bottle? Also if a person is billing somewhere close to 2000 isn’t he capable of buying a bottle of packaged drinking water. Infact when you go for billing the attitude of the person is like he is doing a favour to us. I will never visit this place again and will encourage others to avoid this place.
Are you talking about Sonajhuri haat or some other place?
welcome
